Check Amazon FBA pallet requirements against the US shipment in Seller Central before anyone builds pallets in China. The seller confirms the final delivery method and approves the pallet plan. The supplier and freight forwarder then work from the same shipment details. A factory-ready pallet may still need changes before Amazon delivery.

Which Amazon Requirements Apply to Your Shipment?

Check the final US delivery method in Seller Central before packing starts. That method determines which Amazon box and pallet instructions apply.

  • Delivery method: Small-parcel shipments send individual boxes. Less-than-truckload (LTL) and full-truckload (FTL) deliveries must meet Amazon’s pallet and box requirements. The freight glossary covers common freight terms.
  • Shipment record: Confirm the assigned fulfillment center, shipment ID, box content information, and delivery instructions. If the destination or carton count changes, update the shipment before printing labels or releasing pallets.
  • Palletization location: If the China team builds the pallets, give it the US receiving specifications. If a US warehouse will rebuild the load, give that team the final carton allocation and label files. The seller should approve the pallets that will reach Amazon.

If a warehouse unloads the ocean container before another US carrier delivers the pallets to Amazon, match the handoff to the final shipment plan. Check 20 ft and 40 ft container options when confirming the export load.

What Should You Check Before Approving the Pallet Plan?

Approve a plan for each pallet, then check the finished load against it. Ask the packing team to identify the shipment ID and carton count per pallet before wrapping. After packing, get measured dimensions, gross weight, and photos. If the actual carton allocation differs from the plan, settle that difference before the freight forwarder books final delivery.

Pallet Size, Condition, Height, and Weight

Amazon’s published US guidance calls for 40 × 48-inch wooden pallets with four-way forklift access. Compare this footprint with standard pallet dimensions for shipping if the load also needs to fit an export container. Check that each pallet is sound and graded GMA Standard B or higher. Grocery products need GMA 1A pallets. Health, personal care, and beauty products need GMA 1A or 1B. Tell the supplier the applicable grade before purchasing pallets; a pallet that fits the cartons can still be the wrong grade.

A single large unit that cannot fit the standard footprint without overhang may qualify for a different pallet size. Confirm the exception against the active Seller Central instructions before approving it. For ordinary loads, keep the finished pallet at or below 72 inches and 1,500 lb, including the wooden pallet. Amazon lists 50 inches as the ideal height for stackable pallets. Ask for the height and weight of the completed load, since estimates based on carton dimensions omit the pallet and wrapping.

Carton Stacking and Stretch Wrap

Keep cartons flush with the pallet edges and stable before applying clear stretch wrap. Do not use wrap to hide a leaning stack or boxes that protrude past the pallet. Cartons on one pallet must belong to one shipment ID. Face each FBA box ID label outward so warehouse staff can scan it without breaking down the pallet.

Ask for photos before wrapping if carton placement is difficult to judge afterward. Once wrapped, check all four sides for overhang and label visibility. Add the required visible “Do not break down” notice. Check the cartons against Amazon’s active box packaging instructions as well as its pallet rules.

Box and Pallet Labels

Generate the box labels from the final shipment in Seller Central. Each shipping box needs its own FBA box ID label, even when the boxes travel together on a pallet. Print the full set instead of copying one label across cartons. Place each label on a flat surface away from a seam or opening, and make sure the barcode remains readable.

Each wrapped pallet needs four FBA pallet labels, one near the top center of each side and outside the stretch wrap. Check the pallet labels against the shipment ID on the cartons and the destination in the seller’s plan. If a warehouse rebuilds the pallets in the US, it must apply the correct pallet labels to the final load. A label attached to an origin pallet will not identify a different pallet assembled later.

Who Must Provide the Shipment Details Before Cargo Leaves China?

The seller should send one approved set of shipment instructions to the supplier and the China freight forwarder. Name who owns each preparation step.

  • Seller: Approve the Seller Central plan and send the assigned destination, shipment ID, box content data, and generated label files.
  • Supplier or origin warehouse: Pack cartons to that plan, apply the box labels, and return the actual pallet count, dimensions, weight, and photos.
  • Freight forwarder: Compare the packed cargo with the booking, confirm the US delivery method, and identify who will handle the carrier appointment.

When you ship from Alibaba to Amazon FBA, send the same plan to your supplier and the origin warehouse.

Record where palletization will happen. If the origin team builds the pallets, confirm whether those same wooden pallets will enter the United States and reach Amazon. If a US warehouse rebuilds the cargo, name it and tell the forwarder before booking final delivery.

Do not release cargo against an outdated destination or carton allocation. The seller must issue revised instructions when the shipment changes. The supplier and forwarder can then confirm that the physical cartons, pallet record, and final delivery booking all match the revised plan.

What Should You Send Foresmart for a Palletized FBA Quote?

Send Foresmart the Seller Central destination and shipment ID, along with the packing sheet and generated label files. Include the cargo-ready date and requested delivery window. If the cargo is already palletized, provide its actual pallet count, dimensions, gross weights, and photos. If pallet work is still needed, say whether it should happen in China or after arrival in the US.

Foresmart’s Amazon FBA shipping service can coordinate agreed labeling, palletization, transport, and delivery to the assigned fulfillment center. Ask the quote to specify which preparation tasks and appointment work it covers. The seller retains control of Seller Central, and Amazon decides whether to receive the freight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Multiple ASINs Share One FBA Pallet?

Yes. Amazon allows multiple ASINs on one pallet when the cartons belong to the same shipment. Group the ASINs so warehouse staff can distinguish them, and keep each box’s FBA box ID label visible.

Do Wooden Pallets From China Need an ISPM 15 Mark?

Yes, if the wooden pallets enter the United States. USDA APHIS requires imported wood packaging to meet ISPM 15 treatment and marking rules. Check the marks with your supplier before loading in China. This import requirement is separate from Amazon’s pallet receiving rules.

Who Books the Amazon Delivery Appointment for Pallet Freight?

For a nonpartnered LTL or FTL delivery, the carrier requests an appointment through Amazon Carrier Central. Give the carrier the shipment and Amazon reference details it needs. An Amazon partnered carrier handles its own appointment booking. Confirm the final carrier arrangement before dispatch.
